Half Way to Legal Adult!

He's growing, growing, gone! And apparently gangsta too- we don't even have cable and still he's rockin' the finger signs. For the Collingwood side of the family, yes, that is butter we're smearing on his nose. It's a fun little tradition from Kevin's side that the boys have come to excitedly expect the morning of their birthday. And one last note- made cupcakes but dropped the ball on candles! After rummaging through our emergency candles I collected nine votives- couldn't put them on the cupcakes, sure, but it's the thought that counts.....right!?

Hey! Amelia Kate- I'm Not Interested.

Sorry guys, no pictures this time. Instead, I've got a few words for all the "Amelia Kates" out there. You see, Amelia Kate, I don't wish you any ill will, I don't think I'm better than you, I just don't want to have anything to do with you. You might say, "you don't even know me!" and Amelia Kate, you'd be right. In fact, I don't know if you're a man or a woman, young, old, gay, straight, married or other. I also have no idea whether you're malicious with your intentions, a stalker, adulterer, rapist or better yet, a serial killer. When you chat/friend requested me, I went against my first instinct and as I signed off my email, I clicked "accept." I told myself you could be an old acquaintance, maybe a gal from one of my bible study groups, heck, a preschool classmate! Alas, Amelia Kate, you were none of those, were you? As I checked my email today you rang in and opened with, "Looking for a friend," am I right? Kind of a creepy and mysterious way to begin things but I gave you another chance. I expressed that my intention was not to be rude as I asked who you were and your reply was......."hey sexy." I have to admit, at that moment, I couldn't get you deleted off my contact list fast enough. Please understand, all you Amelia Kates, I have many wonderful friends, I have an amazing family, I have a husband who I am committed to. I love each and every one of them and they are the people that I share my time with. I don't want any secret relationships, fantastical, alternate realities, or games. So please, Amelia Kates, don't waste any more of your time, or mine, 'cause I'm just NOT interested.

Dads Are Full Of Fun!

Leave it to Kevin to find some photo booth application on the computer and then entertain us all for a half hour. Here's some of the pictures, just a few of the 59 we ended up taking!

Jack's Peak

Jack's Peak is the highest point on the Monterey Peninsula so we had some really great views on our hike! The guys found some HUGE pine cones, we saw a spunky grey squirrel and we all returned home relaxed, even a little tired, from our morning excursion.

Kites At The Beach

The wind was gentle and just right for novice kite fliers. The little old lady on the log is not me- it's Isaac!

Orcas In the Open Water

Today we went whale watching and followed a pod of Orcas for a bit. They tried to score a bite to eat (a dolphin) but luck was on the prey's side! We also ran into a group of dolphins- the biologist spotted at least three different types and said there were over 500 surrounding us. Isaac christened the boat early on with some recycled snacks but in the end he said it was a fun trip- we all agreed!

Mother's Day

My gentlemen, all three of them, woke me up with breakfast in bed. Later in the day we paddle-boated but unfortunately I forgot the camera! Then we finished up by making our own pizzas at home for dinner. Thanks guys!

Naval Post Graduate School

The NPS is here in town. Military, government and civilians from all over the world come here to study for their post-graduate degrees. Like most of the peninsula, the campus is scattered with historical buildings. This is the pond we walked around one day. Lots of babies right now.

The Scooter's Have It!

So Kevin went with the scooter but you've got to admit- it's probably the coolest scooter you've ever seen, and it goes 90 mph. Can your scooter do that?

Oh The Life!

We've been busy settling in but it hasn't kept us from seeing the sights! The aquarium here is a special treat- we'll be going back again and again.
